On 29 January 2010, a preliminary contract was sealed between SmartTrans Holdings (SmartTrans), a listed technology firm in Australia, and China Mobile. Under the deal, the former will supply its application management software to 508mn customers of the Chinese cellular network operator, the biggest in the world. The preliminary deal marks the oncoming signing of a multi-million dollar agreement between SmartTrans and China Mobile. In return of the software provision, China Mobile will pay yearly maintenance and licensing fees to SmartTrans. The software will be utilised by both companies under a revenue-sharing model.
